Marshmallow-Pecan Candies

12 oz package peanut-butter-flavor pieces (2 C)
2 T shortening or butter flavor shorting
24 large marshmallows
48 pecan halves (about ½ 6oz can)

∙ In heavy 2 qt saucepan, heat peanut butter pieces and shortening over low heat till melted and smooth, stirring often.
∙ Remove from heat.
∙ Cut each marshmallow in half horizontally and dip into peanut butter mixture to coat.
∙ Place cut side down on waxed paper and top with pecan half.
∙ Let candy set 30 minutes before removing from waxed paper.
∙ Store in tightly covered container.
∙ Makes 48 candies.
