Filled Cookies - Nancy Hein

⅓ C shortening
1 C sugar
1 egg, beaten
½ C milk
1 t vanilla
3 ½ C flour
½ t salt
4 t baking powder

∙ Cream shortening and sugar.
∙ Add egg milk and vanilla.
∙ Sift together dry ingredients then add them to the mixture.
∙ Roll think on floured board.
∙ Cut out with cookie cutters.
∙ Place one teaspoon of filling on a cookie and cover with another cookie, press edges together.
∙ Bake at 325' - 350' for about 8 minutes.

Filling:

2 t flour
½ C sugar
½ C raisins, chopped
½ C figs, chopped
½ C water

∙ Mix flour and sugar then add raisins figs and water.
∙ Cook until thick, be careful not to scorch.
