Crunchy Chocolate Cherries

1 12-oz package semisweet chocolate chips
2 T shortening
2 16-oz jars maraschino cherries with stems, drained
2 C Rice Chex, crushed to 1 C

∙ Melt chocolate chips and shortening together till smooth.
∙ Do not overheat.
∙ Dip cherries in chocolate to stem.
∙ Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
∙ Reheat chocolate as needed.
∙ Press chocolate cherry into crumbs to coat bottom half.
∙ Place on wax paper and store in fridge.
∙ Makes 6 dozen cherries.
