Corn Bread - Helen Arrington

1 C corn meal
1 C flour
2 t baking powder
1 t salt
¼ C sugar
¼ C soft shortening
1 egg
1 C milk

∙ Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening.
∙ Beat egg and milk together.
∙ Mix with dry ingredients till just blended.
∙ Pour into well-greased 8" or 9" square pan (or muffin tin).
∙ Bake at 400' 20 min.
